June Raining!

I belong to the Magnolia-licious yahoo group and joined the Raining Group. There are groups of 24 and you commit to creating 4 cards per month for 6 months so each member of the group gets rained on during one month. I was lucky enough to be rained on during June and the cards I received were all absolutely unbelievable!

This is the card that I sent out during June to the other 3 members that were receiving rain using Butterfly Tilda. I also included a couple stamped images of Loving Edwin. I hope the girls enjoyed the cards and images I sent. Now I have to figure out what I'm going to do so I can rain on the lucky 4 during July.

Special News from Squigglefly

During the month of July, Squigglefly will be donating 50% of all sales in the "Animals" category to the ASPCA. The ASPCA is a humane organization seeking to eliminate cruelty to animals by removing them from cruelty situations and finding them new, loving, forever homes.

Our dog, Jake, was a rescue dog of sorts. We got him from a family down around the Lake of the Ozarks who had rescued him from an abusive situation. You can see scars on him, especially his legs. What Matt & I think happened is his previous owners were using him in fights. Jake is not a pit bull (which is what most people think when they see him), he is an almost solid white boxer. He is really good with the kids and loves play fighting with Matt. He has never bitten any of us. Most of the time he listens but he still has puppy in him. Our vet thinks he is about 2 years old. You can see another picture of him here.

Squigglefly Challenge #8

Rhonda's challenge this week was to create an ATC (artist trading card). I don't make too many of these. They are 3.5" x 2.5" in size so they are much smaller.

I used Wedding Bliss: Bride and Groom. In the picture below, you can see the smaller size. I placed my ATC in front of the picture I made previously using the same image. That is the great thing about digital stamps ... you can make them any size that you want!

For the ATC, I used some smaller cards that I had on hand. Mine are just a little bit bigger than the standard ATC size. I matted the Bride and Groom onto black cardstock which is layered onto burgundy Mulberry paper. I haven't used Mulberry paper in quite awhile and it was fun!

Be sure to head over to the Squigglefly blog to see the other Design Team members creations!!

Don't forget our Blog Hop on July 1st and 2nd!

Little Paper Shop challenge

A few weeks ago I won this Garden Gate stamp set from Little Paper Shop. I couldn't wait to use is so I thought I would make a card for the current challenge over on their blog.

This was a fun sketch to use! I used Stampin' Up colors and I added the small butterflies in the upper corner instead of brads. To make the scallop edge on the pink cardstock, I used my corner rounder.

Thanks for looking!

Dustin Pike card swap

I joined a card swap over on Splitcoast Stampers for Dustin Pike cards. I signed up for two spots (I will send mine off and get different ones back). The uber talented artist, Dustin Pike, himself is even participating in this swap!! How cool is that?!?!

Here is my first set of 4 cards. This set uses Flower Bear and the layout from last weeks Mojo Monday challenge. I colored him with my Prismacolor pencils and OMS. All paper used is from my stash (I am still trying to use some of that up).

This second set of 4 cards uses Dustin's Monster Truck image which was a Wednesday freebie (you can find that one here). I used the same layout that I used here for a challenge on Dare U 2 Digi Stamp.

If you want to participate, you might have time. The cards are due by July 3rd.

Sweet Sketch Wednesday

I found a new sketch challenge blog, Sweet Sketch Wednesday. I thought the layout was great! This card is for challenge #2 over on Sweet Sketch Wednesday (layout) as well as for challenge #11 over on Digital Tuesday (blue, brown and bling). I used my Word Window punch from Stampin' Up, the sentiment is from See D's. I added a blue flower, a white flower and a large dew drop for my bling.

This cute little lion is a new image from Squigglefly. You can find him here. Be sure to check back often as they keep adding new images!!

Ink: printer ink; Palette Noir

The Clouds Roll In...

Over on our family blog, The Skaggs Farm, I just posted some pictures of a storm that blew through town last Wednesday.  I really enjoy taking pictures of the sky and I don't know why.  :)

Head on over and look at the other ones I posted.

Squigglefly Challenge #7

The challenge this week is to think "outside the box". What you do is print (or stamp) your image then choose the shape you want to use ... square, round, rectangle, etc. Now take that shape and off center it over your image so a part of the image is outside the shape. Then you cut the shape and when you get to the part of the image that is supposed to be "outside the box", you cut around it. See the bunny's ears?

I had never done this type of technique before but I'm sure I will be doing it in the future! It was fun! The sentiment is from The Angel Company. Inside reads ... "Just to prove how sorry I am for forgetting your birthday ... next year I'll forget mine."

Head on over to the Squigglefly Blog to check out the other Design Team creations!! :)

Pink, Black + one

It is Rhonda's turn to come up with the new challenge over at Squigglefly this week. She asked us to use pink, black and one color of our choice PLUS two flowers AND two brads. The pink and black was not a problem, but trying to figure out what other color I wanted to use AND what image I wanted to use was a problem.

Long story short ... Tuesday night we had lightening strike just down the street from us and took out 3 transformers. We ended up losing power and luckily the computer and TVs were on power strips. Our printer took a hard hit and I haven't been able to use it since. Hubby went out and bought a new one yesterday ... but it didn't come with black ink so I couldn't print any new images to use.

My other color on this card came from the goodies I won with the challenge over at Stamp Something. They had a small stamp in a bag tied with the sea green ribbon. I had paper to match and I thought that the colors looked good together. I decided on using Wedded Bliss: Bride and Groom. The little green bow and matting paper brings out the green in the bouquet and in the bride's hair.

I used a layout from Sketch and Stash Challenge Blog, here.

Be sure to head over to the Squigglefly Blog to see all the other Design Team creations!!

Hanna Stamps Guest Designer challenge

Hanna Stamps is having a Guest Designer challenge! They don't require you to use Hanna Stamps and I didn't have any until I got a package in the mail from Stamp Something (I won a challenge and got a lot of great goodies). Inside were at least 2 different Hanna Stamps!!

This layout came from a Bella Sketch challenge, here. I love the color combination of pink and brown. The picture is a little blurry and I apologize! I'm waiting on my husband to make me a lightbox.

Charles Spurgeon quote

When I found these flowers available as a free download on Splitcoast Stampers (here), I knew I wanted to do a card like this...

The quote is a little blurry as I took an angled picture so you could see the layers I added for dimension. It says "Flowers...are but the thoughts of God solidified - God's beautiful thoughts put into shape." My frame around the flowers is a little crooked but I think it adds personality. I added the hardware for a little pizzaz.

I am going to enter this card into a Guest Designer challenge for Hanna Stamps. They said you didn't have to use a Hanna Stamp, they just wanted to see some great cards or other stamped items.

Thanks for looking!!

Make a Wish

Here is my card for challenge #5 on the Squigglefly blog.  Kim gave us a color challenge this week: kiwi kiss, pacific point and pink pirouette.  As an added challenge, she wanted a button on the card or project.

The layout came from Friday Sketchers.  I don't have all of the Stampin' Up! colors so I had to improvise.  I chose colors that I had that were close.  The Butterfly Fairy is a new release at Squigglefly (be sure to check out all of their new images as well as some old favorites).  She was colored with my Prismacolor pencils and OMS.  I added stickles to her wings as every fairy has to have sparkling wings.  I almost forgot to attach my button but managed to squeeze it on the ribbon.  I put a sentiment from See-D's on the bottom to wrap it up.

Go grab your papers and play along.  One random winner will receive a free digi-stamp of their choice!

Thanks for looking!

Stamps: Butterfly Fairy from Squigglefly
Ink: printer ink for fairy; Palette Noir for sentiment

The Flowers Smiled

When I found this quote online, I knew I wanted to make a "picture" with it.  I had some rough patches in my life last year, but I now feel like the flowers are smiling on me again.  I used the layout from Mojo Monday, here

You will probably see a few more inspirational things like this in the future.  Thanks for looking!

My Showdown Entry

I've had this cool cat from Hambo stamps for awhile and thought it was time that she make her appearance on a card.  Not sure if the picture shows how bright this really is but it looks good in real life.

Over on 2 Sketches 4 You they are having their 1st Annual Ultimate Card Showdown.  Laura gave us a sketch to follow.  I turned the layout around and had my image hang off the top like a tent card.  The yellow card base is cut to 5.5" wide by 3.5" tall and with my cool cat makes it to 4.25" (for a regular size card).  I had originally colored her orange but it was just a little too bright so I tried to tone her down a little bit by adding some brown.

This was a fun challenge!  Keep your fingers crossed that I make it into the top 30 so I can go on to the next round!

Paper: from stash
Stamps: Cool Cat from Hambo Stamps, Whimsical Wedding (TAC) for sentiment
Ink: printer ink for image, Palette Noir for sentiment

Retro Thank You

This paper makes me think "retro" styles.  I had the paper picked out for another project and I decided to use it for this one as well.

The image is from Dustin Pike ~ one of his freebies!  I have so many of his images saved because I love them all!  The layout came from a fairly new challenge blog, Polka Doodles.  I just flipped it over.  I punched the flowers with my Marvy punches and attached them with eyelets.  The flowers still spin around.  Mr. Bear was colored with my Prismacolor pencils and OMS (as usual).

Thanks for looking!

P.S. I'm almost to 1,000 visitors!!  :)

Squigglefly #4

Here is my card for Squigglefly challenge #4!  Rhonda gave us a simple sketch to use.  I turned the sketch on the side and made a bright pink Clarabell cow baby card.

Clarabell was colored with my Prismacolor pencils but I didn't use my OMS to finish the color.  I made the rosette out of sheer ribbon and a button.  The sentiment is from Hello Baby by The Angel Company(tm).

Be sure to head over to the Squigglefly blog because one lucky participant of this challenge will receive a free Squigglefly image!!
